velarThe VELAR is Reborn. The luxury SUV was created in 1970 when Land Rover launched the original Range Rover. Almost half a century later that spirit of innovation continues with the introduction of the fourth member of the Range Rover family, to be unveiled on 1 March 2017.

Elegant simplicity, a visually reductive approach and pioneering consumer technology are the hallmarks of the new Range Rover Velar.

The origin of the Velar name (pronounced vel-ar) dates back to the first Range Rover prototypes of the Sixties: the pioneers of the luxury SUV landscape.

When development engineers needed to hide the true identity of the 26 pre-production Range Rovers, they chose the name Velar, derived from the Latin velare meaning to veil or cover.

Lazer-utility-frontWe’re delighted to provide a first look at the new work light due late 2016. Back by popular demand, and a natural extension of the range of market leading, high performance driving lights, the UTILITY SERIES looks set to establish a new standard in work and scene lighting.

The first lamp to launch in the range will be the 45W, Utility-45, and will incorporate the latest and most advanced LED systems alongside some revolutionary patent-pending design features to maximise light output, functionality, and reliability.

The most striking and noticeable of these features is the ‘MATRIX’ cooling system – a CAE optimised heatsink providing 20% more surface area than the more traditional ‘fin’ heatsink. More surface area equals better thermal conductivity equals the possibility to run the latest high density LEDs (huge lumen/watt performance) at higher drive currents, in other words, you can get the same light from a 45W lamp [...]

trailhawk-news-introSomeone at Jeep HQ mistakenly released photos of the soon-to-be-confirmed Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk (shown here) but although the images were quickly withdrawn they’d already found there way onto the internet.

What we see looks like a standard-isa Grand Cherokee with a few design and trim tweets to fit in with the Trailhawk theme used on the Renegade. There are a few red exterior highlights, tow hooks, larger wheels with more aggressive tyres and what looks like a slightly raised suspension set up. we will have to wait for the official confirmation from Jeep as to what the entire Trailhawk package includes. It probably will not be the 6.4 litre HEMI V8 as used by the SRT. Whether we get both petrol and diesel variants in the UK is another unknown as yet.

Jeep Trailcat: Hellcat-powered off-roader capable of crawling or high-speed runs

The Jeep Trailcat concept vehicle is the ultimate off-road machine, equally at home on Moab’s rugged trails or a high-speed section. Utilizing the supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI® Hellcat V-8 engine, and mated to a 6-speed manual transmission with a custom shifter ball featuring an embossed Hellcat logo, the Trailcat concept vehicle leaves everything else in a cloud of dust.

Jeep-Trailcat-2To get the 707-horsepower Hellcat engine into the Trailcat, designers stretched the wheelbase an additional 12 inches while chopping the windshield two inches for a sleeker look. Mopar exterior enhancements include a power-dome vented hood, Satin Black grille, LED headlamps and fog lamps and rock rails.

The robust off-road look is further aided by steel front and rear bumpers, 17-inch beadlock wheels and 39.5-inch BFGoodrich Krawler T/A KX [...]

Jeep-Grand-Cherokee-HellcatJeep CEO Mike Manley confirmed to writer/driver Brian Makse at the Detroit auto show this week that the Jeep Grand Cherokee Hellcat would be available before the end of 2017. Make then broadcast the news through his YouTube channel (see below).

The Hellcat will feature the 700bhp version of Chrysler’s 6.2 litre Supercharged V8, the same lump that propels the Charger and Challenger. Some reports last year suggested that the All-Wheel-Drive platform of the Grand Cherokee would not be able to harness the full power available but Chrysler’s engineers have obviously rubbished this fear. Not only does this trump the likes of BMW and Porsche with their SUVs offering 500bhp+ but it trumps it in a very big way indeed. Even the Range Rover Sport SVR cannot achieve that kind of performance.

Jeep are officially stating a 0-60mph time of 3.5 seconds!

But why wait until then? Nene [...]

The 2millionth Land Rover Defender sells for £400,000

Watch the entire sale in our video

Last night I had a dream except it wasn’t a dream, this really was a Land Rover Defender selling for £400,000!

Upon arriving at Bonhams Auction house in New Bond street London, I was greeted by a champagne reception and what can only be described as the cognoscenti of the Land Rover World. HUE166 was there in all of his green glory surrounded by the people you only normally see in magazines and press releases including Roger Crathorne, Stephen and Nick Wilkes to name but a few. However I digress, the star of the show was none other than the 2 millionth Defender to roll off the production line of the hallowed halls at Lode Lane.

The aura surrounding the venerable little 90 was amazing with celebrity build crew, one off parts and a couple of rather natty plates detailing the build number and all those who had a hand in putting it together. Eventually [...]

It’s a Defender 130 like no other

Red Bull build a unique promo vehicle from a Defender 130

red-bull-reveals-armored-event-vehicle-with-stealthy-look-land-rover-defender-chassis-102244_1Red Bull are one of the world’s most active brands and are involved in all manner of sports, events and activities around the globe. To accompany them on their various travels they have quite a collection of planes, boats, cars and trucks. They are no stranger to the Land Rover Marque but their latest addition to the Red Bull Fleet is something else entirely.

It might not be immediately apparent what this is underneath but we can assure you that it is, in fact, a Defender 130.Built in Australia the bodywork consists of several interlocking triangular panels. The end result is very striking and the design of the panels gives is the appearance of a stealth bomber.

Originally it was meant to be liveried in their usual Red Bull Blue but we think you’ll agree the adoption of matt black was the correct decision.

New Defender not expected until 2019!

New model to be offered in five body styles

New Defender

New Defender: It should come as no surprise to anyone that the current Land Rover Defender will soon cease production and if you haven’t already placed an order for one of the last ones you are definitely too late. The prospect of enduring two fallow years being Defender-less was a bad enough prospect for some as it was but it looks like we could actually have to wait until 2019 to get behind the wheel of whatever Solihull HQ roll out as the Defender replacement.

Rumour, counter-rumour and massive speculation will certainly keep the Defender legend alive in the meantime but there are, at least, a few details that we know for definite about the New Defender:

Five Body Styles

It looks pretty certain that Jaguar Land Rover will offer the New Defender in five different body styles: two short-wheel-base variants, one long-wheel-base station wagon and two pick-ups, one [...]

Three Mopar Jeep models are displayed at the Frankfurt Motorshow

Cherokee KrawLer, Wrangler Rubicon Sunriser and Renegade Trailhawk

rugged-wrangler-4Based on the Trailhawk version, the Jeep Cherokee KrawLer show car was created to tackle the toughest driving conditions, as the name suggests by hinting at ‘rock crawlers’ that are designed to climb over the harshest off-road obstacles. ‘KL’ is the code identifying the Cherokee family.

The ride is raised for extreme off-road use. This is why the show car is fitted with special Mopar equipment that includes special suspensions, BF Goodrich KM2 255/80/17 off-road tyres, wider wings, skid plates and platforms under the doors.

Sporting a special, Matte Green body pays homage  to the Jeep brand’s heritage and tradition with quartz grey interior and exterior details, the KrawLer show car is fitted with  a powerful 3.2 V6 Pentastar 272 HP engine, automatic nine-speed transmission and ‘Jeep® Active Drive Lock’ four-wheel drive with low range and rear differential lock.

Many eyes will also be on the Wrangler [...]
