Nene Overland builds a pair of V8 Defender 110s for Royalty
One of a pair of 5.0 V8 powered Defender 110s totally reworked to their royal clients specification. Once completed the two Icon Defenders were literally flown out to the middle east. The project started off with two new White left hand drive 110 TDci Defender station wagons which were then totally re worked and built for long range desert Falconry field sports expeditions.
Firstly the original roofs, side panels and doors were removed then interior and exteriors stripped to enable all the original LR Fuji white to be changed to 1990 LR portifino red. While this was going on lambs wool carpets and saddle hides were made to cover the seats and flooring as well as lower door cards. Classic Land Rover half doors were to be used and bespoke sun shade hood and frames made at Nene’s specialist vehicle facility at Peterborough.
A 2″ lift heavy duty Icon suspension system went on with lower ratio limited slip differentials for added traction off road. All powered by 420 bhp Ford racing 5.0 V8 petrols with heavy duty 6 speed manual gearboxes. A combination of removable three way fridges and extra fuel are located in the back with a further 4 jump seats.
Icon symphony sound system with removable iPads synced to the sound system also have upgraded navigation soft ware to help the Falconary teams while out in remote areas around the world. After 27 years and countless specialist builds for clients all around the globe these wonderful Defenders just make a statement that anything is possible.
