The term bladsak comes from the bag used to pack a Karoo farmer’s lunch and water for the day out on the lands.
Little used these days, as many drive home for lunch. A friend still had his gradfather’s bladsak which was in fact a first world war ammunition bag. Melvin & Moon modelled this version on this faded and patched collectors item, worn soft to the touch with age.
Very useful in the field, on the shooting range or for carrying books.

LAUDATOR TEMPORIS ACTI (IN PRAISE OF AN AGE GONE BY)
Started by the Melvill family, Melvill & Moon is still family run and owned backed by an African heritage that goes back eight generations.
Having arrived in Southern Africa as missionaries in the 1700's, the Melvill family established themselves as prominent land surveyors, cattle ranchers and soldiers with Lieutenant Teignmouth Melvill winning the Victoria Cross at the Battle of Isandlwana in 1876. One thing that features prominently through the generations however is a love of Africa and a passion for Safari.
Melvin & Moon manufacture a broad range of high end handmade safari luggage, campaign furniture, canvas and leather safari accessories and safari-style seat covers which are made from 100% old fashioned cotton canvas. The combination of our signature heavy duty canvas combined with leather represents the heart and soul of the safari era that the company's products evoke.
