5.0 litre V8 Ford Mustang COYOTE Crate Engine 412bhp
This Ford Racing 5.0 litre V8 is the same engine as fitted to the iconic Ford Mustang and has proved to be an absolutely perfect match for the Puma era Defenders (the Puma engine is also derived from Ford). 470bhp is available out-of-the-box but it can deliver over 600 horses with an additional supercharger.
Obviously this will drop straight into a late model Ford Mustang or could be retro-fitted to an earlier model with some modifications. The unit is supplied as a CRATE ENGINE only. We can obviously quote for fitting but this price is supply-only. Collection is preferred but we can arrange shipping if required (again we can quote separately)
In a Land Rover Defender the Mustang 5.0 V8 can be mated to a six-speed manual gearbox or five-speed automatic. With a host of other very carefully researched and selected handling and suspension enhancements you could have a Land Rover Defender that will perform like no other vehicle on the track but still be perfectly composed and driveable around town too.

Power Of The "Coyote". Now you can add the power of the "Coyote" to your very own custom Mustang build with a brand new Ford Racing crate engine. Ford Racing's brand new all-aluminum Coyote crate engine is a modern 5.0L 32-valve DOHC V-8 that features Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing (Ti-VCT) to deliver over 412 horsepower @ 6500 rpm and 390 ft-lb of torque @ 4250 rpm (with premium fuel).
Built Ford Tough. This Ford Racing crate engine is built from a lightweight aluminum cylinder block that features cross-bolted main bearing caps and thick main bearing bulkheads for bottom-end strength. Includes manual transmission engine harness and flywheel.
High Revving Efficient Power. An 80 mm single bore "drive by wire" throttle body in combination with a tuned composite intake manifold provides efficient air delivery and weight savings. The four-valve-per-cylinder aluminum heads with roller-finger followers reduce friction while piston-cooling jets, optimized oil drain-back and windage control improving high-rpm performance.
Application. Can be used in a resto-mod or a custom car build.
Does not include vehicle harness, PCM, alternator or engine cover kit.
