Right from the start we included body repair and modification to our business repertoire. Because Land Rover Defenders and Jeep Wranglers are so versatile it encouraged all manner of body, chassis and mechanical upgrades and modifications. We are able to convert all variations and wheelbases to soft top, game viewer, camper, safari, ski bus or tipper body. We have several different designs of soft top to cover your vehicle offering additional roll over protection if required.
Our in-house coachworks is driven by a team of 5 craftsmen who have the breadth of skills to cover any requirement. It is also great to know that our bodyshop team proudly has steerage from two traditional craftsmen who have been in the industry for 40 years or more supported by three painters and traditional panel beaters.
If we can’t source it we will make it! Often our clients require something adding to their vehicle that is not to be found on any shelf. So we will just design and manufacture it to your requirements. We continue to work very closely with a local steel fabrication and manufacturing facility which offer fantastic versatility and quality finish especially for folding panels and aluminium work. So whatever may be your requirement we have it covered.
Restorations and Modifications
It’s not all about putting things right after an accident or mishap. The Bodyshop47 team are only too keen to put their skills to work restoring your vehicle too. You may have an old classic that is more a part of the family than just a means of transport or maybe you just cannot face the prospect of driving anything full of electrickery and desire to keep things simple. Just bring it to us and let us restore it to as near new condition as possible. See our Restoration & Rebuild page for more details.
Chassis replacement and bulkhead repairs
There are quite a few vehicles – Land Rover Defenders are a prime example! – where the vehicle would probably live on forever if it wasn’t for a couple of components with a shorter shelf-life than the rest of the package. The chassis and bulkhead need looking after if you expect them to keep you going for more than a handful of years. If you haven’t been keeping the Waxoyl Treatments up to date or if you’ve just bought an older used vehicle why not ask us about chassis replacement and bulkhead repairs?
A fully restored Defender with galvanised chassis, resprayed, retrimmed and rebuilt stainless steel fixtures can often be a lot cheaper than buying a new or late model example. It will certainly last you a lot longer and it will be built to your exact requirements.
Defender 130 Station Wagons
There is always a high demand for longer bodied Defender Station Wagons, commercial bodies and camper conversions. Clients often require more leg room or ability to accommodate larger numbers of passengers, tools or equipment. To achieve this we take a standard Defender double cab, remove the roof and rear pick up body and coach-build a longer station wagon body and roof to the existing front body section. This will create a clean traditional extra long wheel base station wagon with 5 doors. The ability to move the front and middle row of seats further back for much more leg room is now an option. Massive rear storage for equipment and the ability to accommodate a further eight passengers behind the middle row may give you up to fourteen seats. This long Defender 130 Station Wagon conversion also lends its self to utility or camper conversions. We have also built several Defender 130 Ambulances for various emergency response teams here in the UK.

The new Discovery Sport has been an instant hit with commercial and Business users. The HSE model offers stunning levels of equipment and very light interior thanks to the panoramic roof.
Motorhome and Caravan repairs
There are few places that can both accommodate these larger units and have the expertise to fettle them. Almost all modern motorhomes and caravans make heavy use of composite materials – what we used to call fibreglass in the old days – and it requires a particular skill-set to carry out successful and invisible repairs or modifications. Call us with your requirements. And while we have your ‘van why not get us to add those extra plug sockets you always wished it had. We do electrics too!
If you know you plan to restore your vehicle eventually or get it repaired but need to wait for the finances to fall into place then we can also store your vehicle for you. Please see our Vehicle Storage page for more details or call us for a quote.
